23rd December 2013
We reached Napier, a city with a seaport, located in Hawke's Bay on the eastern coast of the North Island. Once reached, we're amazed by the beauty of this city.

Napier prides itself as the 'Art Deco Capital'. After the devastating earth quake on 1931, the whole city was ruined. 256 people were killed in this tragedy. The centre of the town was destroyed by the earthquake, and later rebuilt in the Art Deco style popular at that time. Some 4000 hectares of today's Napier were undersea before the earthquake raised it above sea level.
Our accomodation today will be Blue Water Lodge BBH at Marine Parade. Marine Parade is one of Napier's most famous highlights - a tree-lined ocean boulevard with fountains, gardens, mini golf, statues and spas. Every year, tourists flock to this city for its attractions and activities, and a large attraction is the Art Deco building designs.
Since we have no special activity today, we decided to have a solo trip on our own. Just to have fun and to try the feeling of alone to explore this beautiful city.

I walked along the city happily, breathing beautifully and was totally immersed in this Art Deco Capital. This is a vibrant and varied city, it has many outdoor and indoor activities for adults and kids such as city tours, swimming, golf, sports, restaurants, theatres, etc. There are also high street and boutique stores to be browsed in, as well as antique shops, art galleries, and studios of potters, wood turners and craftsman.
